Types of detox diet to bump up your antioxidant and fibre intake without experiencing more than mild side effect. Having a good reliable detox diets is especially important when you are following the practical advice on eliminating toxin from your life, both in the workplace and at home. With the plan that’s right for you and tells you everything you need to know to ensure it really works.

30 day detox diet:Different experts advocate different lengths of time for detox programmes. Seven day is a good starting point and if this worked for you, why not try a longer detox to shift more of the toxin? Some plans are geared to 14 day, other to 28 or 30, but they will follow similar rules to the ones already described.

7 day detox diet: If you have managed to give up alcohol and caffeine and bump up your antioxidant and fibre in take without experiencing more than mild side effects, then you are ready to try a proper detox, and a 7 day plan is a good starting point.

1 day detox diet: One day detoxes generally involve fasting, cutting out food altogether and surviving on water alone or water plus freshly prepared fruit and vegetable juices. Some juice fasts allow you to have raw vegetables as well.

Detox diet plan: When you undertake a longer detox, say 30 day, either have to follow an exact menu plan worked out by nutritionist or educate yourself very carefully about nutrition so as to avoid deficiencies. For example, when you are not eating meat, poultry or dairy, you need to work harder to make sure you are getting the amino acids your body needs to grow and repair tissue. Eight of these must come from our food, and they are known as ‘essential’ amino acids. A ‘complete protein’ contains all eight. Meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products and tofu are complete proteins, as are quinoa and amaranth. Grain, pulses, bean nuts, seeds and green vegetable are incomplete protein but if they are eaten in the correct combinations, they can make up a complete protein. Mixing brown rice with beans is a good tip.

Detox diet benefits: The advantages of a 30 day programme are that your body has time to adapt and become used to a more healthy way of operating. You will cleanse more of the toxin load and should look and feel much better when you finish. It is recommended that you follow a structured detox plan to ensure you get all the nutrients you need to stay healthy. Once again, the real benefit of the detox will come if you manage to retain lots of the good habits you’ve learned and stick with a fresh food diet long term.

Your choice of detox diet will also depend on the type of detox plan you are doing.
