There are many types of colon detox diets. We will discuss some of them here.1) Vegetable detox – This involves fasting for about a week and eating only detoxifying foods like vegetables and fruits. It is best to eat fruits which are easy to digest. Avoid consuming only citrus fruits as they can cause acidity if eaten in excess.2) Lemon n Honey detox – One should fast for about 4 days and drink lemon juice mixed with honey at regular intervals. If you feel too hungry, you can eat some raw salads.3) Pineapple detox – This diet is complimentary and does not require you to starve. One the first day you should eat only pineapples three times during the day. From the next day continue with normal food and eat four slices of pineapple in the morning and evening. Continue for at least a week.Whichever colon detox method you follow, make sure that you drink plenty of water. Water helps a lot in elimination of toxins. You should drink at least 6-8 glasses of plain water per day. The detox diet may affect some of the good bacteria in your diet and hence on the last day you should consume probiotic supplements like kefir or yogurt to restore balance. Non vegetarian foods and alcoholic drinks should be avoided. One should also avoid stimulants like coffee and tea. A colon detox not only cleans out the colon but also helps clean out the liver and other parts of the system. If done properly, detox diets can help you achieve optimal health. However please keep in mind that only detoxification will not help. You should also lead a healthy lifestyle. Eat nutritious food which is rich in dietary fiber and vitamins. A healthy balanced diet and regular detoxifying go a long way in maintaining good health.
